...for the weekend at least anyway!

Thank you all for your messages and emails about him. It means a lot.
He's slowly getting better each day so we're bringing him home this weekend as the vets think he might progress better in familiar surroundings as he's not really eating or moving about too much but last night when we visited him he was moving his tail about!!!! (this is massive news as amputation was talked about as his tail was completely paralysed..the feeling is also returning to his legs and back end and he went for a wee by himself after his catheter was removed which the vets were certain he would not be able to do so it looks as if his neurological bladder damage is slowly going)
Both his back legs and stomach are a complete mess so he will be back to the vets first on Monday morning to have his wounds re-dressed and stitched and then on Thursday we have to take him to the specialist veterinary hospital down south for his major hip surgery...but things are looking a LOT more promising and slowly each day he's making little steps and compared to earlier in the week when it was discussed how he might have to be put to sleep today it really is a miracle.
The vet nurses are all in love with him as all he does is purr and has been given the title of 'His Majesty' and he insists on being hand fed and at 8kg is not the slightest of cats (he has big bones okay)
We'll never know whether he was attached or hit by a car but either way there are some uncaring bastards out there. Who the hell runs a cat over and leaves it with life threatening injures?!
I will be using it as the perfect excuse this weekend to hole myself up in my bedroom with some dvd's, comfort food and Lola to keep me sane whilst Winston is in his cage in the corner. I am not putting one foot outside the door this weekend. Just call me Nurse H!

7 LEFT A COMMENT. WILL YOU?:
Awww poor Winston, I hope he gets better soon. I have 3 cats and would be distraught if that happened to one of mine. Make sure & give him lots of love :)
His Majesty? - Rightly So :)
That's fantastic to hear that you can have him home for the weekend & excellent about the feeling coming back to his tail.
I know it's likely to be a long road to recovery, but it sounds like it's heading in the right direction.
Have a lovely weekend with him x
Poor wee Winston, he's been through a lot. Glad you're getting him home though. :) xx
It's bloody horrible isn't it.
My wife was had just come out of hospital after giving birth to our youngest son when our George got run over.
He got over our fourteen foot wall, through the cat flap, up the stairs, and then lay on the landing, asleep until I nearly fell over him in the morning.
His rear right leg was 'gloved' inside out, and after x rays we found out his pelvis was fractured in two places, as was the right leg.
My wife and my eldest boy said goodbye to him as I wrapped him up to take him to the vet.
The out of hours vet wanted to put him to sleep, but our vet rang them and said they wanted to see him. They felt that could save him, and they did. Two and a half thousand pounds later, he lived for another two years.
Would I do it again?
Not sure.
Whoops, he is a lovely mog.
British blue?
Yes he's a British Blue and a big one at that. So far he's cost us over £4k in treatment and probably more still to come. Thank God for pet insurance!!! Hopefully he's on the mend but he was at the vets for 2 1/2 weeks and we brought him home for a few days and he was back to the vets yesterday as he has an infection in his wounds.
Would I do it again..absolutely :)
Oooo so cute! I just want to pet him ^^ Good thing he's getting better. Good luck with everything!
Oh, btw, found you through the 'WeLoveComments' Group.
