Winston Sebastian Wood

I know this is not the right place but I feel at a loss of what to do at the moment.  Winston managed to sneak out of the house on Sunday night and a neighbour who was helping me look for him found him on Monday morning (when I realised he was missing) as I was leaving for work in another neighbours coal bunker in a bit of a mess.

He has a bad wound on one leg down to the bone, has broken some teeth, has a nasty wound all down his stomach, his left hip has dislocated badly hip that needs to be replaced or pinned (initially the vet thought he's fractured his pelvis and sent the xrays to 3 other vets to check as she was so certain he had) and his tail and back legs are currently paralysed meaning that he is messing himself without realising.

We were supposed to be taking him to a huge specialist veterinary surgery down South in a few days for his hip replacement and possible tail amputation but the vets have just phoned to say that he can't have the surgery now until his bladder functions return to normal and it's not looking promising for him. They've put in a catheter and will hope that by the end of the week he's stopped passing blood/gets the feeling in his bladder back but if he doesn't it means he a/ can't have the surgery he needs b/it's not fair to keep him in this state

We're still at a complete loss as to what happened to him. At first we thought he'd been hit by a car but he hates roads and won't go anywhere near them and  his claws are still perfectly sharp. The vet said his injuries are the same as a few cats she's had in that had been kicked so that was her second guess but why would he have wounds and broken teeth? We think he must have got stuck in something and panicked trying to free himself before crawling into the bunker. I guess we'll never know what happened.

We're really careful with them and because they are pedigree cats and better suited to the indoors we tried to keep them as indoor cats and  not let them out of our sight but Winston got a taste of the great outdoors and so likes to go out every now and again and potter around in the garden but he is never outside for more than 30minutes and he doesn't venture further than the next door neighbours garden. I guess you never can be too careful.

Lola, who is the laziest cat ever, has been wondering around the house looking for him and has been sitting by her food waiting for him to appear so she can eat. They might ignore each other most of the time but they always eat together.

Everyone that meets him falls in love with all 8kg of him. He's a massive ball of charcater. He's a talkative cat but he's sat in his cage at the vets completely silent. It's horrible.

He's refusing to eat at the vets so Mr W and I are going after work to see him again and take some fresh warm roast chicken for him (his favorite treat) to see if we can tempt him to eat.

It sounds dramatic but my cats are like my babies and to loose him would be heartbreaking.

Please send positive vibes his way!!

You're not being over dramatic at all - they are your babies!

So sorry that this has happened to him & really hope there is a positive outcome for him, you (and Lola too).

Positive Vibes on the way x
